Glossary

The words you meet in your first session, in plain English. Where a term carries a limit, the limit is part of the definition.

Workspace: Your company's Winston account, with its team, connections and work.
Store: A location within the connected business data. Check which stores a result covers.
Overview: The page for prioritized findings, monitoring context and reusable skills. See Start your day with Overview.
Check: One thing Winston runs against your data, such as Stockout risk or Cash variance. Checks produce findings; areas group checks.
Area: A group of checks you switch on or off under Overview → Edit: Inventory, Sales and margin, Customers, Promotions, Controls, Buying and vendors, Holidays.
Monitor: An older word for a check. The product now says check.
Finding: An issue or opportunity reported by a check. A card can group several findings, and Overview counts findings, not cards.
Coverage line: The line under Watching that counts how many checks ran, found no data, could not run or did not apply. Only could not run is a gap.
Your checks: The panel, opened from a card's menu, where you choose which checks you see and which ones email you. It changes nothing about what runs. See Monitoring settings.
Snooze: Hides a finding for a day, for you. It returns at the next check if still there.
Dismiss: Hides one finding for good, for you. It teaches Winston nothing.
Show me fewer like this: The card-menu item that writes to your standing instructions. The one that changes what you are shown in future.
Standing instructions: A saved monitoring note that Winston reads on save, turns into adjustments to Overview, and reads back to you. It also travels with every review conversation. An error means the requested change may not be active. See Monitoring settings.
Sensitivity: How selective Overview is about the findings it surfaces.
Snapshot: A saved set of evidence from a particular point in time.
Last checked: When Winston ran a monitoring check.
Data as of: The source-data date behind a result, separate from check time.
Sales at risk: Estimated sales exposure, not proof of actual lost revenue or money saved.
Resolved: A finding no longer reported as active; inspect the reason.
Skill: A reusable method for a task. It is not automatically a schedule or monitor.
Prompt: An instruction or question for Winston.
Starter prompt: A prepared task in Learn Winston; read its requirements and What to expect.
Session: A conversation about a piece of work. Restate critical scope when starting fresh.
Work Audit: A review item for work routed through Winston's approval workflow.
Approve / Reject: Authorize or decline the action described by a pending item. Neither is proof that every action uses this route.
Library: The place to find saved outputs and inspect their status.
Scheduled task: Supported work configured to run at an agreed cadence, shown on Scheduled Tasks as a cron expression and timezone.
Scheduled task failures: The check, off by default under Your checks, that puts a failed job on Overview or in your inbox. Its card's button is Fix it.
Delivery: Where a task's output is sent. Execution and delivery can succeed or fail separately.
Credits: Units used to pay for Winston's work. Check Billing and Usage for current terms and balance.
Owner: The one member with billing on top of admin rights. Only the owner can transfer the workspace, by promoting a member or inviting a new owner, and then becomes an Admin. See Transfer ownership.
Verification code: A six-digit, single-use code Winston emails you before a sensitive change such as a role change or an ownership transfer.
API key: A credential used to authorize a connection. Keep it out of Chat and shared files.
Read-only: Access that does not permit writes to the connected source.
Reconciliation: A check that explains how detail, totals and source definitions agree, or where they differ. See Reconcile a number.
