FAQ

Straight answers to the questions operators actually ask.

Does Run send anything to vendors or customers?

No. A starter prompt reads data and writes in Chat; anything it wants to send parks in Work Audits.

Worst case if I click Run this?

Some credits and a report you didn't need: a starter prompt's output parks in Work Audits until someone approves it. Typed requests are different: one that writes to a write-enabled system can run without the audit, so ask to see the change first.

Can it write to Metrc or create a PO in Treez?

from the Winston team

Treez: not on a read-only connection, which is how Treez worked when this guide was checked; confirm yours in Settings → Connections. Metrc: only what the Metrc user key you supplied allows; use a read-only Metrc user if you want none. Writes from a starter prompt wait in Work Audits for your Approve; a typed chat request that writes follows the connection's permissions, so ask Winston to show you the change first.

Can it ping me when done?

Winston does not send notification emails on its own. With Slack connected, ask it to post when it finishes; with Google Workspace, it can email a report when you ask, and a schedule can deliver by email. Otherwise check Overview or come back to the session.

Who sees my chats?

You, and Admins or Owners with access. Other teammates see a conversation only if you share the session link. The Library and Work Audits are team-wide.

Is there an app?

There is no separate mobile app. Winston works in your phone's browser: sign in the same way, open the menu with ☰, and send with ➤. With Slack connected you can also just message Winston there.

Can I undo a publish?

from the Winston team

Ask Winston to unpublish the web page. Sent emails and Slack posts depend on the tool; assume final.

Can I restrict Approve to owners?

from the Winston team

No. Any member of the workspace can Approve: Owner, Admin, or Team Member. Winston assumes everyone you invite is back office.

Which POS systems work with Winston?

Treez, Dutchie, and Blaze. Treez connections were read-only when this guide was checked; Dutchie and Blaze follow the access you granted when you connected them. Confirm what yours allows in Settings → Connections.

What happens when a teammate leaves?

An Owner or Admin can remove a member in Settings; if the option is not available, or to delete the whole workspace, email support@winston.team. Once they are removed from the workspace their sign-in stops working. What they built stays: Library items, Work Audits history, and schedules keep running for the team.
